About the Event

Educating children in the benefits of eating healthy, along with teaching them how to make a healthy snack at home.

Led by #dayofpurpose Ambassador Unique Matthews:

PASSION and DRIVE—two words that describe Unique. As a native of the Bronx, New York, she grew up in a community where cultural diversity was ingrained. It was there that Unique discovered her passion for fashion as a young girl. Designing and sewing clothing for the people in her community became her hobby. Even at her young age, she knew that giving back to others was vital for the character development of a true leader. Unique wanted to continue to pursue her love for fashion, so after high school, she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She then took a leap of faith and decided to move to Atlanta, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in fashion design and marketing from American Intercontinental University. That did not mark the end of her studies; she later went on to live abroad in London and there obtained her Masters in International Business.

After 15 challenging but rewarding years in the fashion industry, Unique decided to start her own clothing line called— “Amor Unique”. Soon her closets could no longer contain the talent that overflowed from its door, and it was at that point that Unique decided to open her first brick-and-mortar shop—“Style Finds Consignment”, ( @StyleFindsConsignment ) in Binghamton, New York. Unique’s love and interest did not stop at fashion; she also had a special place for cooking in her heart. Her drive to cook and help others led her to start her nonprofit organization Amor Giving Inc.” (@amorgiving)that feeds those in need on Thanksgiving Day.

Unique continues to evolve and accomplish many great things, within the last two years, she has become a certified plant-based chef, which has helped her to change her own eating habits and inspire others to do the same. She has also become certified plant-based nutrition from Cornell University. Unique has helped many people learn to “Eat 2 live and Cheat on Weekends”, which is a plant-based dietary/lifestyle change program that she created (@EatInnCheat). On top of all of these amazing achievements, Unique is a mother and has homeschooled her nine-year-old son for the past three years.
